A veneer is custom-created for you. A thin shell is fabricated to exact specifications, then bonded to the exterior of teeth to give a perfectly even and bright look. They can be made from porcelain or composite materials.
Porcelain veneers require less tooth surface to be removed and are highly durable. Composite involves layers of the material being painted on, then shaped, and is less expensive than porcelain veneers.
The Process for Getting Porcelain Veneers
If you choose to have veneers made from porcelain, there is a two-visit process involved. At your first visit, we’ll gather the information that our laboratory needs to fabricate your veneers. Your teeth will be prepared to receive them, and you’ll have a temporary set of veneers placed until the laboratory completes your set. Then, you’ll return to our practice to have them cemented into place.
